We are very excited that Colin Murdoch is one of our 30×30: 1989-90 exhibition artists.
Some words about the artist:
“Colin was born in Bermuda and is an illustrator, digital artist, cyclist, and movie fan. He holds a BFA in graphic design from the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, where he had originally planned to study film and animation. Fate stepped in and upon graduation Colin worked as a graphic designer and illustrator for over 25 years. He is a huge fan of illustrators such as Drew Struzan, John Alvin, Richard Amsel, Bill Sienkiewicz, Tom Chantrell, Bernie Fuchs, and many others. Colin now creates hand drawn movie posters and artwork that embraces that traditional style, while using digital methods and modern techniques. Colin hopes that the revival of the hand drawn movie poster continues on its upward trend as he feels there is a quality in illustration that photography just cannot achieve. He has as many good memories about 1980’s movie posters as he does the movies themselves and with some luck Colin can produce similar images for current and upcoming movie marketing. He is currently based in North Yorkshire, UK and is available for freelance illustration projects”.
