About the Artist

I’m a freelance graphic designer based in Yorkshire in the uk, I’ve been designing for over 17 years and as of April this year I decided I’d take the risk and try something I’ve always wanted to do, illustrate alternate movie posters. I studied fine art at college and always had an interest in movies since seeing aliens on TV at the age of 7 when I sneakily went down stairs and put the tv on, since then I’ve never looked back. I’ve always been a fan of drew struzans work and was always mesmerised by his work. I was deterred from illustrating at college as I was told I wasn’t good enough at it so it’s taken me this long to pluck up the courage to start doing this and seeing how it goes. Robotwig was set up as a creative freelance name but has now moved on to movie illustration which seems to fit in really well as Lenny (my robot with an Afro) shares some similarities with Jonny 5! I’m hoping that I can make the career change and do this for a living I’m absolutely loving what I’m doing at the moment

Why did you choose that film?

I have created an extensive list that I work through and Bond was one of them, so when I saw it on the list I though oooo cool I’ll try that out. If you’ve seen my work I take a slightly different angle on my approach to movie posters and there’s a lot that I can pick out from Bond.

Any upcoming projects you want to tell us about?

As I’ve only really just started I’m still building up my network so don’t really have anything in the pipeline I hope it all catches on and I can do this full time I’m having lots of fun and getting lots of support off other fantastic artists out there it’s such a supportive group to be in.

Be sure to check out all of Robotwig’s work, and we’ll be sure to share some teases of this Spy classic real soon.
